We treat fitness like it’s a luxury.
Something to invest in after we close the deal. Or launch the product. Or when our kids grow up.
Tom Rowland didn’t have that option.
He was guiding fishing trips 300+ days a year in Key West. His income was tied to how long he could survive in the sun without falling apart. Every extra day he could row, sweat, and not give in — was another $1,200 in his pocket.
So he trains. Everyday.
Not for abs. Not for Instagram.
He trains because his body is his business.
Now he’s built a media brand, launched a streaming platform, raised a family — and also trained himself into one of the top 20 fittest guys in the world in his age group.
Our next episode on Product Market Fitness is all about that.
How training gave him more capacity.
How fitness became his secret weapon.
And why you should stop waiting for the perfect time to take your body seriously.
If you’re a builder, you don’t have to look like an athlete.
But you should train like one.
Here’s what this looks like for me:
Prioritizing Sleep: Almost impossible with 3 small kids, but we do what we can to prioritize. Turn phone to DND. Skip the extra episode. Read before bed. And I go to bed at the same time as often as possible
Nutrition: Again. Not perfect here. But, right now I’m using a limited eating window + tracking my macros to keep myself honest.
Training: Personally, I love training. It’s my hobby and my outlet. I get creativity out of it and enjoy the feeling of having pushed to my limit.
My coach, Daniel Sterling, guides what I do week to week, and we’re collaborating on providing more workouts for you all.
But the bottom line is you have to be consistent. Strategic. And built for the long haul. We’re aiming for repeatable performance in fitness and in business.
